Returning Back to What Matters Most
Its been a while...

This morning, the Lord Jesus reminded me that I have been distracted by too many things for too long.
Some of those things looked spiritual. Some even felt necessary. I have been reading my Bible, bringing my requests before God, and continuing to move in what seemed like devotion. Yet through all of that, I did not realize when I drifted from the one thing that matters most to Him, being with Him.
Jesus brought me back to Mary and Martha. Mary chose the good part. She chose to sit with Him.
“But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42 NKJV)
That is what He was showing me this morning.
I have been spending too much time trying to do all the right things and say all the right words in prayer, while missing the simplicity of just being with Jesus. Being with Him in the secret place. Being known by Him there. Resting in His presence without needing to prove anything.
He also reminded me of something I truly had not realized, He missed hearing me sing to Him in the secret place.
That touched me in a way I still cannot fully explain.
Somewhere along the way, I got used to singing before people. And in doing so, I forgot that my first audience will always be Jesus, My Lord. Before anyone else hears my song, He longs to hear it.

“O my dove, in the clefts of the rock, In the secret places of the cliff, Let me see your face, Let me hear your voice; For your voice is sweet, And your face is lovely.” (Song of Solomon 2:14 NKJV)
This verse reveals the desire of the Beloved to hear the voice of the one He loves. That is what I felt from the Lord this morning.
And as He spoke, I also understood why I had lost some clarity.
When I drifted from the secret place, I continued doing many good things while slowly unknowingly losing sight of what actually pleases Him.
David understood that the highest pursuit was to dwell in the presence of the Lord.
“One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life, To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.” (Psalm 27:4 NKJV)
Before David wrote the Psalms, he sang and played to God as a shepherd in the field.
Before he became a king and a priest, he was a worshipper, singing to his Lord in the secret place.
So today by the mercy of God, I return.
And from this place of being with Him, I will share here what He allows me to share.
With Love,
Ejiro
